Block of the Month: Fair Isle Quilt: A Journey in Learning Studio 180 Tools and Techniques



The pattern required for the class is $32.50.
A kit can be purchased at the shop for the class $175.00 starting in June 2026. The finished quilt will hang in the shop during the shop hop, beginning in July 2026. The kit will be packaged into month increments, with the fabric cut for each month.

Deb Tucker designed a gorgeous new quilt, Fair Isle, which we will construct over a ten-month class period as a block-of-the-month/skill-builder. The classes will be taught on the second Sunday of each month. The project uses 180 Design’s Rapid Fire Lemoyne StarTucker Trimmer IIIWing Clipper ICorner Beam, and Square Squared tools. The tools will be available in the shop during the class and purchased when needed. 

You can also pick your own fabrics.
The cost of the class for instruction is $200.00. (20$/class)

Three pressing stations.
Four cutting stations.
A design wall.

(The class will be team-taught by Lora Cecere and Barb Wheeler. Both are Certified 180 instructors.

Requirements:

Advanced Beginner Skills

Please bring.
Machine in good working order. (You can also rent a machine from us for $15.00 additional per class.)
Thread for piecing in a neutral color. (We love Elfina.)
Rotary cutter
Pins
Seam ripper
Small scissors




 


Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: A good class for an advanced beginner to improve skills. Learn all of the Studio 180 techniques.
Materials Included: kits are optional and can be purchased in the shop. We have ten pre-packaged kits at $30/session
Requirements: A fun, learning spirit that wants to take piecing to the next level.
Instructor: Barb Wheeler
Instructor Bio: Barb is the owner of Village Green Designs, located in Indian Head, MD. She is a Certified Instructor for Sallie Tomato and Studio 180 Design. Barb has been sewing for over 30 years. She has taught in her own studio, retreats, at her local community college, and shops. She likes her students to feel relaxed and confident as they learn new or refreshed skills. She enjoys bag making, quilting, embroidery, and costuming.
